Month in review

So a lot can happen in a month. This has been quite a month and has required much personal growth on my part.

1) I may as well start off with this one: In retrospect, my high pain tolerance could have killed me!

2)Heaven help us!.The government decided to do things that make people go against their conscience which may mean that if this same thing happens in the future I may not be able to go to a Catholic hospital and may have to choose to do things against my conscience or to die Saint Gianna style.

3) I could feel Satan trying to drag me into "the trap" that I was falling into when I was engaged. I left phone messages (yes, multiple [sigh]) and then deleted a certain contact from my address book.

(I have the most understanding husband though because one of our new favorite pastimes became to joke about our own idiosyncrasies and how they make it unlikely that it would have worked out with so-and-so or such-and-such a person.)

4) I am not sure I feel comfortable around certain people any more because I am not sure they truly like or respect me. I'll get over it, I just can't have a relationship with people who refuse to see beyond the superficial to really get to know me as a person.

5) On to brighter things: I am complaining way less! My husband said he has noticed a "drastic" change. This leads to me arguing less, fighting less and being more peaceful between us, which will all the more help both of us not fall into "the trap" in the future.

6) John has been having some success in actually getting this formal night owl to go to bed early and (gasp) get up early. Like averaging around 5:30 am early...

7) Needless to say I have become somewhat of a coffee addict.

8) But above all else we gained and lost a child--all in the same day. Samuel Thomas, we love you very much and cannot wait to meet you someday in heaven. Please keep praying for mommy. As you can tell 2012 is going to be a bang up year. I believe in the power of your prayers.

"Samuel grew up, and the Lord was with him, not permitting any word of his to be without effect." 1 Samuel 3:19

9) We also gained a child through Compassion sponsorship. We look forward to getting to know Mporansenga (Yes, I have no idea how to say that!) Emmanuel from Rwanda, a country near and dear to my heart after reading Our Lady of Kibeho. He just turned five years old this week, and my not-quite-five year old is drawing him a picture right now. I look forward to them growing together.

10) And finally, it is Friday afternoon as I am writing this and I think the thisclose to three year old is finally falling asleep! He is starting to wear me out more and more with his never ending energy and new found attitude, but given where we were three years ago on the 6th I wouldn't have it any other way!
